In any home or apartment, the electrical installation is an important and complex part. It ensures that we have electricity to run our devices, light and heat them, and that we can feel safe and comfortable. If you need an electrician to repair, install or upgrade your electrical system, you may be wondering how much it will cost. The cost of an electrician depends on various factors, such as the scope and type of job, the qualifications and experience of the electrician, the materials required and the travel time. We give you an overview of the prices that electricians are usually charged and a few tips on how you can save money.
Most electricians charge an hourly rate. This varies from region to region, but is usually between €40 and €80 per hour. A master electrician can even charge up to €100 per hour. The cost of travel is usually included in the hourly rate, but it is advisable to clarify this with the electrician in advance. For simple connection work, such as connecting a stove or lamp, an electrician generally does not need more than half an hour. For more complex work, such as laying cables or replacing a fuse box, the working time can be several hours or even days.
